Dubai Clothing Advice for Tourists:

Here are very common question people ask before travelling to Muslim country, ‘Should I wear abaya?’. ’Can I wear short skirts?’. ’Can I wear bikini on beach?’. ‘Can I wear mini dresses on crowed places’. Women usually get very confused about clothes. Usually men inform them about the cultural values of places.

Not all Muslim countries have same culture, it depends which country you going to visit. If you are confused, go for safer side and wear covered clothes. I bought many full covered clothes before coming here in Dubai, especially Maxi and long skirt for this trip and in fact I was comfortable even with fully covered clothes. I believe in respecting cultural values and also think we all should respect other cultural values of people.

Dubai is very open minded when we talk about clothing because public is from different countries. You will see almost all type of dressing over there, from miniskirts to Abaya but do not forget that you are a guest of a Muslim country.

Here is simple guide about what to wear while traveling different places of Dubai, UAE.

What to wear when you at Hotel, Mall and Restaurant:

Most of the restaurants, malls and hotel do not allow you to enter if your knees are open. Dubai ask customers to dress modestly. This rule more put into practice when it’s Ramadan.

Beach suits are only for beaches, do not even try to go to any hotel or restaurant on a bikini.

What to wear when you at Beach:

You are allowed to wear any type of dress when you are at beach or any other water park. Every dress you can wear, from 2-piece dress to naqab. There is only a rule of ‘No Nudity’.
What to wear when you at Mosques and old markets:

There are few places in Dubai where you must care about your dressing like Souk Market or Gold Souk Market where you will be surrounded by many locals and Muslims around the world so it will be good if you are dresses more conservatively.

If you are visiting old areas and mosques, you should better to choose covered dresses. And also cover your hair inside the mosque.

What to wear when you at Dubai Desert Safari:

This is the most favourite place of visitors. I would like to recommend you to wear pants, capri pants, shorts with collar T-Shirts just to get little protected from sun light and that sandy environment so don’t wear skirts or any other mini dress.

Normally that desert is hot but if you are visiting in November and December then must carry sweaters and leather jackets.

What if you are a girl and traveling alone:

If you are young and traveling alone or with some other girls, I strongly recommend you to take full clothes specially when it is night.

What to carry:

I am going to give you a guide about what to choose and what not.
First, you must carry a shawl to cover you from head to knees when it needed. Second, you carry some slippers and pair of sandals to make your trip comfortable and get some shorts and casual cotton shirts with you. The trendiest outfit is Shorts, Cotton Pants and Polo Shirts in Dubai. Do not carry lot of clothes with you when you can buy these clothes from online shopping sites, www.flash360.ae, souq and more. When I visited last time, I bought good quality men’s cargo shorts, printed men’s t-shirts, and polo shirts in Dubai from e-store for onlineshopping in Dubai, UAE. I would recommend you to use online shopping sites and save your time and money. All you need to do is just to follow clothing trend in Dubai.

  1. I had a lot of fun reading your story here. I enjoy attending events, and the finest one I've been to was a drone show in Omniyat and AVA, in Dubai. If you had ever heard of it?
